Rodney Kuenzi, DVM
Dr. Rodney Kuenzi ("Dr. Rod") was born and raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He received a BS degree in Entomology from Iowa State University in 1983 and a DVM degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987.
Dr. Rod and his wife Dr. Lana opened Kuenzi Family Pet Hospital in 1987. Before that, he practiced in Madison and West Allis. His special interests include veterinary dentistry as well as soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Rod enjoys farming, entomology, forest management, geology and archaeology.
Kevin Peck, DVM — Chief of Staff
Dr. Kevin Peck ("Dr. Kevin"), Chief of Staff, has been with Kuenzi Family Pet Hospital since 2008. He grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1993. He then went on to receive a DVM degree from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.
Dr. Kevin's special interests include internal medicine, endocrinology and cardiology. Dr. Kevin and his wife Erica have three kids – Delphine, Sebastian and Gabriela – and three dogs at home.
Lana Kuenzi, DVM
A Waukesha native, Dr. Lana Kuenzi ("Dr. Lana") earned a DVM degree from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982.
Prior to starting Kuenzi Family Pet Hospital with her husband, Dr. Lana practiced small animal medicine in Des Moines, Iowa, emergency veterinary medicine in Waukesha, and general veterinary medicine in Madison. She has a special interest in feline medicine and surgery.
Dr. Lana and Dr. Rod have two children, AJ and Mary, three dogs and a cat. She enjoys cooking, reading and hiking in her free time.
Hilary Toft, DVM
Dr. Hilary Toft ("Dr. Hilary") joined Kuenzi Family Pet Hospital in 2006. She was born in Burlington, Wisconsin, and lives there today. Dr. Hilary graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1998 and the University of Wisconsin - Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002.
Previously, Dr. Hilary also practiced at the Spirit of 76th Veterinary Clinic in West Allis. She is especially interested in surgery, internal medicine and animal behavior.
At home, Dr. Hilary has two kids, Liam and Kaia; a cat, Diarmuid; a Labrador, Rowan; and a Bernese mountain dog, Tanzi. She enjoys spending time with them as well as running, bicycling, swimming, gardening and traveling.
Sarah Ellenberger, DVM
Dr. Sarah Ellenberger ("Dr. Sarah") is a Waukesha native. She received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater in 2006 and a DVM degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.
Before joining the Kuenzi Family Pet Hospital in 2014, Dr. Sarah practiced small animal medicine at the Regner Veterinary Clinic in Kenosha, WI. She has a special interest in internal medicine, dentistry and soft tissue surgery.
When not at work, Dr. Sarah enjoys photography, gardening, running, traveling and reading. She has a cat, Loki, and a French bulldog, Wally.
Alex Dwyer, DVM
Dr. Alex Dwyer ("Dr. Alex") grew up in Whitefish Bay, WI and currently lives in Lake Mills. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2007, and a DVM degree from Iowa State University in 2016.
Prior to joining our team in 2016, Dr. Alex spent five years as a technician at a bioresearch company in Madison, WI. He is especially interested in small animal surgery, dermatology, cardiology, dentistry and preventive medicine.
In his free time, Dr. Alex loves getting outdoors to camp, fish, hike, bike, and snowboard. He also loves reading fantasy epic novels and historical fiction. His family consists of his wife, their two-year-old son Finn, Loki, a six-year-old Pitbull/Husky mix, and Emma, a five-year-old Mastiff/Labrador cross.
Teal Dowling, DVM
Dr. Teal Dowling (“Dr. Teal”) joined the Kuenzi Family Pet Hospital team in 2016. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in biology from Carthage College before graduation from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. After graduation from Michigan State, Dr. Teal wished to return to Wisconsin to be closer to family and friends. She has also practiced at Veterinary Village - International Canine Semen Bank in Lomira, Wisconsin.
Dr. Teal’s special interests include surgery and internal medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Teal is an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. She also shows Arabian horses at the national and international level. She has five horses, two cats, and a dog at home.
